Shooting in busy South Grand corridor leaves one woman dead

A woman was shot and killed Tuesday morning in the drive-thru area of a Starbucks on South Grand Boulevard, near Tower Grove Park, in what police described as an active homicide investigation with the suspect still at large.

The shooting occurred around 10 a.m. on Feb. 10, 2026, in the 2300 block of South Grand Boulevard. Emergency responders arrived to find the victim wounded by gunfire. She was transported for medical care but later died from her injuries.

What investigators have confirmed so far

Police said the shooter fled the scene and had not been arrested as of Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026. Investigators released a description of the suspect as a Black male wearing a lime green high-visibility vest and a hard hat or helmet—clothing that can resemble workwear common in construction zones.

Authorities have not publicly identified the victim, and no official details have been released on whether the shooting stemmed from a robbery attempt, a dispute, or another motive. Detectives continued canvassing the area and reviewing available surveillance footage as the investigation remained open.

Why the location matters

The South Grand corridor around Tower Grove Park is a heavily traveled stretch with restaurants, retail businesses, and frequent vehicle and pedestrian traffic. A shooting in a drive-thru setting presents investigative challenges because vehicles may enter and leave quickly, witnesses may be transient, and sight lines can be limited by the layout of the lane, landscaping, and nearby traffic.

Police have urged anyone with information to contact investigators or submit tips through anonymous reporting channels.

What happens next

In the near term, detectives typically focus on establishing a timeline, identifying the suspect’s route of travel, and determining whether the suspect and victim knew each other. Investigators may also seek to confirm whether the work-style clothing was related to a nearby job site or used to blend in while moving through the area.

Until an arrest is made, police are expected to continue requesting public assistance to identify the suspect and to locate any additional video evidence from nearby businesses, traffic cameras, or private security systems.
