Campaign total increased from 2024, with additional grants pushing overall annual fundraising higher

United Way of Greater St. Louis reported that its most recent annual community campaign raised $60 million, an increase from the prior year’s campaign total of nearly $58 million. The campaign is the organization’s primary annual fundraising effort and supports a network of nonprofit agencies operating across 16 counties in Missouri and Illinois.

Alongside the campaign total, United Way said its overall fundraising for the year reached $78.4 million when additional grants and donations beyond the workplace-focused community campaign were included.

How the funds are expected to be used

United Way said the community campaign proceeds are intended to support services delivered by roughly 160 nonprofit partners. The funded work spans multiple categories frequently tied to household stability, including housing support, food access, early childhood education, workforce development, health care and crisis response.

Among the area organizations cited as receiving United Way support are the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis and the St. Louis Area Foodbank. Leaders of both organizations described United Way funding as a continuing component of their capacity to deliver services, including hunger relief and broader community support.

Leadership and major contributors

The 2025 campaign was chaired by Lal Karsanbhai, president and CEO of Emerson, with Andrew Davidson, managing partner of KPMG’s St. Louis office, serving as co-chair.

United Way also identified tiers of multi-million-dollar campaign contributors, reflecting combined giving that can include corporate gifts, employee donations and associated workplace campaign activity. The tiers reported were:

  • $5 million or more: Edward Jones; World Wide Technology
  • $3 million or more: Ameren; Emerson; Enterprise Mobility
  • $2 million or more: Bayer; Hunter Engineering
  • $1 million or more: BJC Healthcare; Nestlé Purina Petcare Company; Schnucks Markets, Inc.

Regional business participation

The St. Louis Regional Business Council said its member companies collectively raised more than $23 million through the campaign. In the previous year’s campaign cycle, the same council reported raising more than $21 million.

United Way said allocations to partner agencies will continue throughout the year, with funding aimed at addressing poverty, housing instability, food insecurity, and access to health and education services.

United Way separately noted that, as of 2024, it had surpassed a cumulative milestone of more than $3 billion invested in the local community over its history.
