In a different case, police reported an update in the shooting death of a 22-year-old man that occurred inside a business in the Soulard neighborhood. Officers were called shortly after 1 p.m. on January 26, 2026, to a reported shooting at the 8th Street Restaurant, where they found a 22-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead.
Police identified the victim as Christopher Frye-Pleasant, 22, of St. Louis City. Police later reported that a 20-year-old man was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with that case.
