Saint Louis extends its surge with a wire-to-wire Atlantic 10 statement

Saint Louis delivered one of its most emphatic performances of the season Friday night, rolling past Dayton 102-71 at Chaifetz Arena behind a record-setting shooting night from guard Trey Green. Green hit a career-high seven 3-pointers and scored 23 points as the Billikens, ranked No. 21, pushed their overall record to 21-1 and stayed unbeaten in Atlantic 10 play at 9-0.

The game was decided by perimeter accuracy and pace. Saint Louis never trailed, opened by scoring the first eight points, and built a first-half margin that ballooned to 24 points. The Billikens shot 63% in the first half and repeatedly turned early offense into clean looks from beyond the arc.

Three-point volume and efficiency separated the teams

Saint Louis’ outside shooting defined the night: the Billikens went 17-for-28 from 3-point range. Along with Green’s seven makes, Ishan Sharma added 18 points while hitting six 3s, and Quentin Jones scored 18 as Saint Louis stacked scoring threats across the floor.

The decisive stretch came after halftime. Dayton briefly trimmed the deficit with a 12-5 run to get within 51-41, but Saint Louis answered immediately with a 12-0 burst, restoring control and turning the game into a rout.

  • Saint Louis built separation early with high-percentage shooting and quick ball movement.
  • Dayton’s best push came early in the second half but was met by rapid 3-point responses.
  • Saint Louis also held an edge on the glass, outrebounding Dayton 30-23.

Dayton’s slide continues as Saint Louis’ home streak grows

For Dayton, De’Shayne Montgomery led the way with 23 points and Amael L’Etang scored 12. The Flyers fell to 14-8 overall and 5-4 in conference play, and the loss extended a four-game losing streak—Dayton’s first such skid since January 2014.

Saint Louis’ win extended two notable runs: a 15-game overall winning streak and an 18-game home winning streak at Chaifetz Arena. The Billikens entered the night with the nation’s best average scoring margin and again paired elite offense with sustained pressure across 40 minutes.

What’s next

Saint Louis is scheduled to travel to Davidson on Tuesday night, continuing a conference stretch that has increasingly positioned the Billikens as the Atlantic 10’s pace-setter. Dayton returns home Tuesday to host St. Bonaventure, looking for a reset after a difficult two-week run.

Key figure: Trey Green’s seven made 3-pointers set a career high and anchored Saint Louis’ 102-point night.
