Third-period surge came after Dallas built a 3-0 lead through special teams

Robby Fabbri scored for the St. Louis Blues in the third period against the Dallas Stars, finishing a play that cut into a three-goal deficit and set off a late push that ultimately fell short in a 4-3 loss at Enterprise Center on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026.

Fabbri’s goal came at 3:15 of the third period, when he took a feed from defenseman Justin Faulk, worked around a defender and fired a wrist shot from the slot to make it 3-1. It was Fabbri’s first goal in nearly a year, dating back to Jan. 28, 2025, when he was with Anaheim.

The goal was a turning point in a game that had been controlled by Dallas through two periods, largely because of its power play. The Stars broke a scoreless tie early in the second on a man-advantage goal by Matt Duchene, then doubled the lead 40 seconds later on a play that bounced off a Blues defenseman in front. Dallas added another power-play goal late in the second period, with Roope Hintz extending the lead to 3-0.

Schenn’s two goals tied it before Harley’s late winner

After Fabbri made it 3-1, Blues captain Brayden Schenn scored twice in the third to pull St. Louis even. Schenn’s first trimmed the gap to one, and his second tied the game with 4:10 remaining, completing a rapid swing that put Dallas’ earlier lead at risk.

The tie did not last. Dallas defenseman Thomas Harley scored with just over a minute left in regulation to put the Stars back in front, and the Blues could not force overtime.

Key numbers and game flow

  • Dallas received two of its first three goals on the power play, turning a scoreless start into a multi-goal cushion.
  • Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger finished with 23 saves; Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington made 20.
  • The result extended a recent trend in the matchup, with Dallas continuing to win the majority of meetings against St. Louis since late November 2022.

Injuries and what’s next

St. Louis forward Jake Neighbours left the game with a lower-body injury and did not return. Forward Jordan Kyrou also exited with an upper-body injury and did not return.

The Stars’ road trip continues Thursday night at Vegas. The Blues remain at home Thursday night against Florida.

In a game defined by special teams early and urgency late, St. Louis’ comeback attempt was fueled by Fabbri’s third-period strike and Schenn’s pair, but decided by a late Dallas finish.
