Major Lanes Closed on I-44 and Page-Lindbergh Interchange Shutdown for February 13

Friday Morning Traffic and I-55 Restrictions
Commuters heading into the city this morning should prepare for steady volume and significant long-term construction impacts, particularly along the I-55 corridor. MoDOT crews are continuing the extensive bridge rehabilitation project between I-44 and the River Des Peres. Several key ramps remain closed through early 2026, including the ramps from Lafayette and Virginia to southbound I-55. Additionally, the Loughborough on-ramps and off-ramps to southbound I-55 are currently inaccessible. If you normally use these exits, allow an extra 10 to 15 minutes to navigate detours through local streets like Broadway or Jefferson Avenue.
Midday Lane Closures on I-44 and Route 21
Beginning at 9 a.m. today, drivers on eastbound Interstate 44 will face restricted flow as two lanes will be closed between Kingshighway and Jefferson Avenue. These closures are scheduled to last until 6 p.m. for pavement repairs. To avoid heavy congestion during the midday and early evening rush, commuters are encouraged to use I-64 or Chouteau Avenue as alternatives.
In South St. Louis County, one lane will be closed in both directions on Route 21 from Green Park to Gravois and from Green Park to Reavis Barracks. These restrictions will be in place from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Motorists should also be aware of a 24-hour lane closure on eastbound Route 100 (Manchester Road) between Pointe Drive and Des Peres Road, which may slow traffic through the Des Peres area throughout the day.
Major Weekend Alert: Page and Lindbergh Interchange Closure
The biggest disruption of the week begins tonight. MoDOT has confirmed that the entire interchange at Route D (Page Avenue) and Route 67 (Lindbergh Boulevard) will close starting at 8 p.m. tonight, Friday, February 13. This closure is required for the demolition of the westbound side of the Page Avenue bridge. The interchange will remain closed until Monday morning. Temporary signals and bypasses will be in place, but heavy delays are expected. Drivers heading westbound on Page will be detoured to northbound Lindbergh, then to Midland Avenue, to return to southbound Lindbergh and back to Page. Eastbound traffic will detour via Olive Boulevard.
Mardi Gras Impacts and Public Transit
For those traveling to the Soulard neighborhood tonight, the Mayor’s Mardi Gras Ball will increase pedestrian traffic and limit parking near the Enterprise Center and Soulard market area. Metro Transit reports that MetroLink and MetroBus services are currently operating on a normal schedule following recent winter weather cleanup. While some bus routes may still experience minor delays due to local road conditions, the system is fully operational for the Friday evening commute. Transit users are encouraged to use the Civic Center Station for the easiest access to tonight's downtown events.
