Morning Traffic Overview

St. Louis commuters should prepare for significant delays this Tuesday, February 10, 2026, particularly along the I-55 corridor and major interchanges in St. Louis County. While weather conditions remain relatively mild for February, ongoing long-term construction projects continue to restrict capacity on several primary arteries. Drivers heading into the city from the south should allow an extra 15 to 20 minutes for their morning commute.

Ongoing Highway Construction and Lane Closures

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) reports several active work zones that are impacting traffic flow today:

  • I-55 Southbound: Capacity remains limited with one lane closed from I-44 to north of Bates and two lanes closed from north of Bates to north of Weber. These restrictions are part of the ongoing multi-year bridge and pavement rehabilitation project.
  • I-55 Northbound: Commuters will encounter one lane closed from north of Reavis Barracks to north of Bayless, and two lanes closed from north of Bayless to Virginia Avenue.
  • Ramp Closures: Several key access points to I-55 remain closed, including the Virginia on-ramp to southbound I-55, the Lafayette/Truman to southbound ramp, and both the northbound and southbound ramps at Germania Avenue.
  • I-270 and Riverview Drive: In North County, the westbound exit ramp to Riverview Drive and the on-ramp from Riverview to westbound I-270 remain closed for bridge work.
  • Route 67 (Lindbergh Blvd): One lane is closed in both directions at the Route D (Page Avenue) interchange. This is ahead of a major full closure of the interchange scheduled for this coming weekend, February 13-16.

Metro Transit Alerts

Metro Transit has issued several rider alerts for Tuesday morning. While MetroLink is currently operating on a normal schedule following the successful reopening of the University City-Big Bend Station, multiple MetroBus routes are experiencing detours or delays due to local roadworks and infrastructure upgrades. Commuters using the following routes should check their schedules:

  • #10 Gravois-Lindell and #11 Chippewa
  • #30 Arsenal and #32 Dr. ML King
  • #40 Broadway-Halls Ferry and #70 Grand
  • #73 Carondelet and #74 Florissant
  • #97 Delmar

Looking Ahead: Overnight Closures

Motorists traveling through St. Charles County should be aware that starting tomorrow night, February 11, MoDOT will begin closing all eastbound and westbound lanes of I-70 at the I-70/I-64/U.S. 61 interchange overnight for bridge girder installation. Plan alternative routes if you typically travel through Wentzville or Warrenton during late-night hours.
