Major Interchange Closure at Route D and Persistent I-55 Delays Impact Sunday Travel

Significant Weekend Road Closures
Commuters and weekend travelers in the St. Louis area should prepare for major disruptions today, Sunday, February 15, 2026. The most significant impact is the total closure of the interchange at Route D (Page Avenue) and Route 67 (Lindbergh Boulevard). MoDOT crews have closed this interchange to facilitate the demolition of the westbound side of the Route D bridge. This closure began Friday evening and is scheduled to remain in place until 5 a.m. Monday morning. Motorists are being diverted via temporary bypasses and signal-controlled ramps at Midland Avenue and Olive Boulevard. Significant delays are expected throughout the day in North County.
Interstate Construction and Lane Shifts
On Interstate 55, several long-term projects continue to affect traffic flow within the city limits and into South County. Key closures include:
- The Virginia Avenue on-ramp to southbound I-55 remains closed as part of the ongoing bridge rehabilitation project.
- The southbound exit and entrance ramps at Loughborough Avenue are closed through early 2026.
- Southbound I-55 is reduced to a single lane from I-44 to Bates Street, with further restrictions near the Weber Road overpass.
Additionally, drivers on I-270 near the I-64 interchange should be cautious of recent lane shifts. Northbound lanes were shifted earlier this month between Conway and Ladue Roads to accommodate bridge replacement work. Expect narrowed lanes and a reduced speed limit in this corridor.
Public Transit and Weather Advisories
Metro Transit has issued a service alert for today following recent winter weather. While all MetroLink and MetroBus services have resumed normal operations, officials advise riders to allow for extra travel time. Residual snow accumulation on secondary roads may still cause minor delays for bus routes. Metro is also reminding the public of upcoming meetings this month to discuss potential service changes for Route 30 and other local lines.
Event Traffic for Sunday Evening
Heavy traffic is anticipated in the downtown area and near major venues this evening. The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra will host a tribute to Tina Turner at Powell Hall at 7 p.m., while the Enterprise Center expects a large crowd for a performance featuring Patti LaBelle and Chaka Khan. Drivers should expect congestion on I-64 and I-44 near these venues between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.
