Public Health Advisory: Influenza Surge

The St. Louis Department of Health continues to monitor a significant spike in seasonal influenza activity. Recent data indicates that Influenza A and B are spreading rapidly throughout the city, with a notable increase in emergency department visits. Health officials urge all residents aged six months and older to receive their annual flu vaccination if they have not already done so. Prevention measures such as frequent handwashing and staying home when symptomatic are strongly advised to curb the transmission of the virus, particularly among high-risk populations including seniors and those with chronic medical conditions.

Public Safety and Service Announcements

The St. Louis Board of Police Commissioners is scheduled to meet today at 1:00 PM at Police Headquarters on Olive Street. The agenda includes departmental updates and labor management discussions. Additionally, the City has officially lifted the current Code Blue cold-weather advisory as of February 4 due to rising temperatures. While emergency shelter capacity remains expanded, the formal activation for extreme cold response is currently inactive.

Infrastructure and Traffic Alerts

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has issued a notice for overnight work affecting major corridors. Starting at 8:00 PM tonight, February 5, crews will close up to two northbound lanes of I-270 near the I-64 interchange. These closures are necessary for the removal of barrier walls and the shifting of lanes. All lanes are expected to reopen by 5:00 AM tomorrow morning. Motorists are also reminded of ongoing long-term lane closures on I-55 between I-44 and Weber Road, which are projected to continue through early 2026.
