Official Holiday Notice: Presidents’ Day Closures

In observance of Presidents’ Day, the City of St. Louis has announced that all non-essential municipal offices will be closed on Monday, February 16, 2026. This closure includes City Hall, the Civil Courts Building, and various administrative departmental offices. While municipal offices are closed, emergency services—including the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and the Bureau of Fire—remain fully operational. Residents requiring non-emergency assistance are encouraged to utilize the Citizens’ Service Bureau online portal, though response times may be delayed until offices reopen on Tuesday, February 17.

Modified Refuse and Recycling Schedule

The City of St. Louis Refuse Division has issued a public service announcement regarding adjustments to the roll cart collection schedule for the holiday week. To accommodate the holiday observance, the following changes are in effect:

  • Residents with regularly scheduled Monday collections will have their trash and recycling picked up on Tuesday, February 17.
  • Residents with regularly scheduled Tuesday collections will see their pickup moved to Wednesday, February 18.
  • Thursday and Friday collections will proceed as regularly scheduled, though residents should be prepared for slight timing variances due to the increased volume.

Additionally, the Refuse Division reminds residents that seasonal yard waste collection is currently suspended and is officially scheduled to resume on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.

Public Health Advisory: Winter Wellness and Awareness

The Department of Health continues to urge residents to prioritize respiratory health during the final weeks of winter. Health officials recommend that individuals stay up to date with seasonal flu vaccinations and COVID-19 boosters, particularly as indoor gatherings remain frequent. Furthermore, February is recognized as National Children’s Dental Health Month. Parents are encouraged to schedule routine checkups and reinforce healthy habits to prevent early childhood tooth decay.

Tornado Recovery Assistance Deadline

Residents impacted by the May 2025 tornado event are issued a final reminder regarding the Private Property Assistance program. The deadline to apply for stabilization, repair work, and debris removal assistance is February 28, 2026. Eligible property owners who have not yet filed for assistance should contact the recovery task force immediately to ensure their applications are processed before the program concludes.

Upcoming Legislative Meetings

While the Board of Aldermen will not meet on Monday due to the holiday, the legislative calendar resumes on Tuesday, February 17, with the Housing, Urban Development and Zoning Committee. The next full meeting of the Board of Aldermen is scheduled for Friday, February 20, at 10:00 AM in the City Hall Chambers.
