Public Health Advisory: Seasonal Virus Vigilance

The City of St. Louis Department of Health continues to monitor a surge in respiratory illnesses. Recent surveillance data indicates that seasonal influenza activity remains at a high level across the metropolitan area. While Influenza A dominated early winter, health officials report a significant increase in Influenza B cases. Residents should practice frequent handwashing and stay home if they develop a fever.

Furthermore, following previous alerts regarding measles exposure at St. Louis Lambert International Airport, health officials remind the public to remain vigilant. Although the primary monitoring period for the initial February exposure has passed, residents are urged to maintain up-to-date vaccinations and contact healthcare providers immediately if symptoms such as high fever, cough, and runny nose occur.

Public Service and Infrastructure Updates

The City of St. Louis Refuse Division reminds residents that curbside yard waste collection remains on seasonal hiatus. Regularly scheduled roll cart collection is set to resume next week, on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. Until that time, residents are encouraged to use regional drop-off sites for household waste.

Regarding infrastructure, the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) reports ongoing major work on I-55. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures and ramp restrictions between I-44 and the Bates Street area as bridge and pavement modernization continues through early 2026. Additionally, the city is transitioning the Private Property Assistance program into its next phase, prioritizing stabilization and debris removal for properties impacted by recent severe weather events.
