18-year-old Florissant driver dies after car leaves Bermuda Avenue and lands on Interstate 70

Crash spans both directions of I-70 near Bermuda Avenue in north St. Louis County
An 18-year-old man from Florissant was killed Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, after his car left Bermuda Avenue, entered Interstate 70 and was struck by a pickup truck, authorities said. The collision triggered a chain of impacts involving additional vehicles and debris across the highway near the Bermuda Avenue crossing.
The crash was reported at about 1:15 p.m. on westbound I-70 at Bermuda Avenue in St. Louis County. Investigators said the teen was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu southbound on Bermuda Avenue when the vehicle left the roadway and went onto westbound I-70, where it struck the median.
A westbound 2024 GMC Sierra then struck the Malibu on the driver’s side. The Malibu caught fire, and the teen was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the GMC Sierra, a 52-year-old man from Smithton, Illinois, reported minor injuries.
Debris created a secondary hazard for eastbound traffic
Investigators said the impact with the median sent debris into the eastbound lanes. Three eastbound vehicles subsequently hit debris, expanding the incident beyond the initial collision. A 19-year-old woman from St. Charles was identified as one of the eastbound drivers involved; she was wearing a seat belt and her vehicle sustained minor damage, authorities said. Not all drivers involved in the debris impacts were publicly identified in available crash documentation.
Authorities have not released the teen’s name. A seat belt status for the Malibu driver was listed as unknown in the initial crash record. The cause of the vehicle leaving Bermuda Avenue had not been disclosed as of Saturday morning.
